Mental Health Social Work

Mental Health Social Work is conducted by Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) who are recognised providers with Medicare Australia and other programs.

These therapists deliver clinical social work services in mental health settings and use a range of evidence-based strategies.

Mental Health Social Work is available to people of all ages (children, adults, and older persons) and at Adelaide Night & Day Family Therapy, our Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, Anne-Marie Newham, conducts her sessions online using a safe, secure, and confidential telehealth system.

The presentations addressed by Mental Health Social Work include:

  • Depression
  • Mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Relationship problems
  • Life crises
  • Adjustment issues
  • Trauma
  • Family conflicts

The advanced training expected of Accredited Mental Health Social Workers provides them with the skills for working with people with very complex presentations and co-morbidities.

Your sessions are eligible for funding through Medicare, allowing you to access a rebate if referred under a Mental health Care Plan by your GP.
